Backyard Clearance for Seniors

Free brush clearance is available for residents who are low-income disabled or senior citizens (age 65+), or low-income veterans.  Residents of Ojai, Meiners Oaks, Mira Monte, Oak View, Casitas Springs, Foster Park, and the surrounding areas are eligible.

Through this service, households receive 100′ defensible space around an inhabited house, including tree limbing up to 6′ height, to satisfy fire department requirements (and best practices for fuel reduction and fire safety).

How It Works:

  1. Complete the registration form.
  2. You will receive a call from The C.R.E.W. to coordinate details, and to schedule a work day.  Spaces are limited and will be fulfilled on a first come, first served basis.
  3. A C.R.E.W. team will come to you!  Please note that hauling green waste is not included in this service, however C.R.E.W. will make every reasonable effort to help dispose of the waste safely.
  4. If your scheduled clearance date is after the June 1 deadline, C.R.E.W. will coordinate an extension approval through the Ventura County Fire Department.
  5. For questions, contact The C.R.E.W. office at or 805-649-8847.
